About Běhej lesy and Rules

About Běhej lesy

The jubilee 10th season of Běhej lesy is here! Thank you for being part of the woodland adventure with us. Runners from the forest pack will once again traverse unique locations in the most beautiful areas of the Czech Republic during 8 races. You can choose from routes around 5, 10, 20 kilometers, and then extra-long routes over 40 kilometers. By participating in the charitable PENNY run, you will also contribute to a good cause, and the forest pack's young ones will also enjoy children's races at Dr. Max.

During the eight stops of the series, we will visit exceptional places that are not commonly accessible to the public. Runners will venture directly into the Velká Amerika quarry near Karlštejn Castle, run through the closed military area in Brdy, and explore legendary places along the routes of the Jizerská 50 winter race. The Lednice-Valtice area with its architectural and natural landmarks in the UNESCO World Heritage Site will not be missing. In Klínovec and in Bílá, we will once again take a cable car to the summit and then enjoy races with breathtaking views.

The 2024 season will definitely be thrilling! We have prepared a new race location for you in Železná Ruda on the border of the Šumava National Park, where you will run around glacial lakes - Černé and Čertova.

And in June, we have the Týmovka again, a relay race that will leave you and your teammates with memories for a lifetime. Come and enjoy these running challenges with us, we look forward to seeing you at the starting line!

REGISTRATION
  • Participants under 16 years of age may only participate in the race WITH the consent of a responsible representative, even in the case of races intended for adults.

  • Each participant, by submitting the online form, declares that they have read the regulations and rules of this race, agree with them, will abide by them, start at their own risk, are physically fit to participate in the race, and are adequately insured for the race. They will follow the instructions of the organizer and event services.

  • Each race participant is required to follow the race route, have the race bib (i.e., on the chest, securely and visibly) and electronic chip affixed in the prescribed manner.

  • The organizer is not liable and does not cover any damage (especially health and property damage) incurred by participants in connection with the race.

  • The organizer of the Run the Forests series reserves the right to disqualify from the race, or even the entire series, any participant who is proven to have violated the rules defined by the Ethics Code of the International Olympic Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Code"). Disqualified participants will have all points earned in the race from which they were disqualified revoked. If a participant is excluded from the entire series, all points and rankings achieved in that year's Run the Forests will be revoked. In case of particularly serious violations of the Code's rules, the organizer reserves the right to prohibit such participants from participating in future races of the series. If a disqualified participant had already paid the entry fee for subsequent races at the time of disqualification, this fee is forfeited in favor of the Run the Forests organizer, who will use it at their discretion, especially but not exclusively, to compensate for damages caused by violating the Code and to purchase prizes for winners of children's categories. Disqualification does not absolve the participant of personal liability for damages to injured parties resulting from their violation of the Code.

  • Race packets can only be collected at the location and time specified by the organizer. Unclaimed packets cannot be collected later or claimed in any other way.

  • Race participants must identify themselves by email with their assigned race number.

  • The race number and chip are non-transferable to another person. Violation leads to disqualification.

  • Only properly registered participants may participate in the races.

  • Participants are automatically assigned to their age category based on their date of birth upon registration. In the case of children's races, participants may, upon official request, be reassigned to an older age category or may participate in multiple starts. Each additional start is subject to a fee according to the current price list. An official request can be sent by email (info@sportid.cz) no later than 3 days before the race start, or in person at the race venue at the information desk no later than 30 minutes before the start of children's races. Late requests will not be considered, and the participant can only participate in the race in their category.

  • Any shortening of the race course is prohibited.

  • Support in the form of a cyclist, scooter, or other means of transportation carrying food/drinks or other supplies for the participant is strictly prohibited throughout the entire course.

  • The use of roller skates, trekking poles, bicycles, or other means of transportation throughout the entire course, as well as running with a dog or stroller, is strictly prohibited. The exception is the charitable PENNY run, which allows participation with a stroller, and ultra-long routes in Brdy, Železná Ruda, Jizerská 50, and Lednice, where the use of trekking poles is permitted.

  • If parents physically assist their children in completing the race (holding hands, pulling the child to the finish line, etc.), a 20-second penalty will be added to the participant's time, and potential disqualification from the results list may occur.

  • Runners who do not finish the race within the time limit, which is 2.5 hours for shorter routes and 3 hours for longer routes, may be excluded from the race by the organizer or a person authorized by them. After returning the race number, they may continue but must comply with the rules of the road traffic law. The time limit for completing ultra-long routes in the Run the Forests Brdy, Železná Ruda, Jizerská, and Lednice races is 8 hours.

  • Refreshments for participants will be provided during the race, at the finish line, and in the facilities.

  • Time is measured for everyone from the starting shot. The order is determined based on this time. The results also include the net time from the start. The exception is the Run the Forests Klínovec and Bílá races, where the time is measured from passing through the timing mat above the cable car.

  • Participants have the opportunity to contest the race result until Tuesday after the race by emailing info@onlinesystem.cz.

  • Prizes are not legally enforceable.

  • Each participant is obliged to read and respect the regulations and rules published by the organizer on their website www.behejlesy.cz/en before the race.

  • The participant confirms that they will adhere to the race rules. If these rules are violated in any way, it may result in disqualification or subsequent exclusion of the participant from future events of this race.

  • The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the program, regulations, these rules, and conditions without prior notice.

  • All participants acknowledge that some race routes are located in protected landscape areas, and they are therefore obliged to protect nature, behave considerately towards it during the race (not littering), and respect the instructions issued by the organizer and marked routes to prevent damage or disruption to protected natural areas.

  • Absolute winners on individual routes (1st - 3rd place), winners of category routes (1st place), winners of individual children's categories (1st - 3rd place), and Tandem team competition winners are announced at each race.

AN EMAIL WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE SENT TO PARTICIPANTS ON THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE RACE. The email will include the race number and all necessary information.

RACE AND STARTING PACKAGE
  • The gift voucher can be used for race registration. Its activation requires the purchase of the entry fee through SportID.

  • It must be redeemed at least 14 days before the race or until the race capacity is reached.

  • The voucher is not exchangeable for cash.

  • The entry fee is non-refundable in case the gift certificate is not used or if the race is canceled.

GIFT VOUCHER
  • You can also sign up for the team competitions Tandem or Slowmotion. Participants in the team competition are simultaneously evaluated in the individual race. Teams Tandem or Slowmotion cannot be formed or modified during on-site registration! It is necessary to register online, no later than 5 days before the start of the race.

  • Participation in the Slowmotion competition is not possible for corporate teams receiving the registration fee from the company.

Tandem - for pairs

The rules of Tandem are simple. Form a team consisting of a man and a woman in any mutual relationship (e.g., friend - friend, partner - partner, husband - wife, father - daughter, mother - son, colleague - colleague, classmate - classmate) and decide who will run the longer route and who the shorter one. The pair with the lowest combined time wins. Participants in the Tandem team competition are also evaluated in the individual race. More detailed rules can be found below.

Slowmotion - for larger teams

The goal of Slowmotion teams is to form the largest group possible. Each of you chooses the route that suits you best. Unlike Tandem, the aim here is to have the highest combined time. It's not necessary to run the race route as slowly as possible; the significant factor is to have as many team members as possible. The advantage is that there is no limit to the number of team members. More detailed rules can be found below.

What not to forget?

  • In team competitions, each race is competed separately (not as part of the entire Běhej Lesy series).
  • You can register for the team competition no later than Wednesday before the race.
  • It will not be possible to create or modify teams on-site during registration.
  • If one of you fails to finish the race in the Tandem competition, you will be disqualified. In Slowmotion teams, only the times of those participants who complete the race are counted.

HOW TO SIGN UP?

First, each team member must register and pay the entry fee at sportid.online. Then, you create a Tandem/team in the "My Registrations" tab in your account and invite friends or accept invitations to join the Tandem or team. Tandem or team can be open (no confirmation required) or closed (by request).

RULES FOR THE TANDEM CATEGORY

  • Teams in the Tandem competition may consist of a pair of athletes of opposite genders in any mutual relationship (e.g., friend - friend, husband - wife).
  • Both members of the team must be over 15 years old.
  • Each member of the pair runs a different course of the race, i.e., one runs the longer route (e.g., 22 km), the other the shorter route (e.g., 10 km).
  • If both members of the Tandem team run the same course of the race, they will be disqualified from the Tandem team competition, and their ranking will only count in the individual race.
  • If one member of the Tandem team fails to finish the race, the team will be disqualified from the Tandem team competition. The athletes will be evaluated individually in the individual race.
  • Athletes in the Tandem team competition are simultaneously evaluated in the individual race.
  • The ranking in the Tandem team competition is determined by the total time of both athletes.
  • The goal is to achieve the lowest total time.

Prizes

  • The first three pairs in the Tandem team competition will be awarded.

The deadline for registration

  • Participants can sign up for the Tandem team competition on the race website until online registrations close, which is the Wednesday before the race.
  • Sign-ups for the Tandem team competition are not possible on-site.

Team modifications

  • Modifications of team compositions for the Tandem competition can be made until registration closes, i.e., 5 days before the race.
  • The composition of pairs for the Tandem team competition cannot be modified on-site.

RULES FOR THE SLOMOTION CATEGORY

  • The number of team members for the Slowmotion team is not limited.
  • In the Slowmotion team competition, all participants must be at least 15 years old.
  • Individual members of the team can choose any route, whether it be longer or shorter (participants on the ultra-long routes within the Běhej Lesy Brdy, Železná Ruda, Jizerská, and Lednice races are not eligible for the competition).
  • If one or more team members fail to finish the Slowmotion race, the team is NOT disqualified. Only the times of the team members who finish within the time limit for completion will be counted in the results.
  • Participants in the Slowmotion team competition are also evaluated in the individual race.
  • The ranking in the Slowmotion team competition is determined by the sum of all team members' times.
  • The team with the highest sum of achieved times wins.
  • Thus, it is not necessary to run the race route as slowly as possible; the significant factor is also the highest number of team members.

Prizes

  • The prize will be awarded to one team that achieves the highest total of the recorded times.

The deadline for registration

  • Participants can register for the Slowmotion team competition on the race website until registration closes, which is on the Wednesday before the race.
  • It is not possible to register for the Slowmotion team competition on-site.

Team modifications

  • Teams for the Slowmotion competition can be adjusted until registration closes, which is on the Wednesday before the race.
  • The composition of teams for the Slowmotion competition cannot be adjusted on-site.
TEAM COMPETITIONS
  • For the virtual PENNY run, registration is required at sportid.online, with a registration fee of 350 CZK.
  • The virtual PENNY run is not included in the Osmerák/Sedmerák awards - participation in all 8 races. It cannot be substituted for an on-site race.
VIRTUAL PENNY RUN
  • Each runner who completes the race will be awarded points for their performance, contributing to the overall series standings. Winners of individual races will receive 2,000 points. The last finisher will receive one point. Other finishers will be awarded points based on their finishing times, decreasing proportionally. For example, a runner who finishes in the middle of the results list will receive 1,000 points.

  • The top twenty finishers in each race will receive additional bonus points. Winners will receive an extra 200 points, with points decreasing proportionally so that the 20th finisher receives an additional 20 points. These points are added to the overall standings.

  • In the overall rankings for Lesů pán and Lesů paní, only the best 6 results out of 8 races will be counted. If a runner participates in more than 6 races, only their best 6 results will be counted. "Forest Lord" and "Forest Lady" are awarded separately for the short and long routes, with points not combined between the two. For the extra-long routes, only the best 3 out of 4 results will be counted. If a runner participates in all 4 races, only their best 3 results will be counted. The points allocation system is the same as for the short and long routes, including bonus points.

  • Results from the Běhej Lesy Týmovka are also included in the standings. The longest loop from the team race is counted towards the short routes, while the sum of the best times on all loops from the team race is counted towards the long routes.

CATEGORY

Every runner who participates in all eight Běhej lesy races in one season earns the title of "Osmerák." The coronation of the Osmerák takes place at the last race, and the holders are entitled to a special gold number throughout the following season.

In the 2024 season, we will also announce the title of "Sedmerák", which will be earned by every runner who participates in all races except the Team Race.

If you missed any race but still want to earn the Osmerák title, you have the option to participate in the Běhej lesmi race in Slovakia (excluding replacements for the Behaj lesmi Topolčianky).

OSMERÁCI A SEDMERÁCI

For completing a race in both the winter and summer Jizerská 50 in one year, you will receive a scoring.

  • The basis is the percentile of your placement among men or women, expressing how many percent of participants (men and women separately) achieved a worse result on the given track than you did.
  • The percentile is multiplied by the coefficient for the length of the track.
  • The percentile is calculated to two decimal places.

Coefficients Jizerská 50

  • 50 km = 1
  • 25 km, 30 km = 0,8
  • 17 km = 0,7
  • 10 km = 0,6

Coefficients Běhej lesy Jizerská

  • 50 km = 1,1
  • 23 km = 0,9
  • 11 km = 0,7

The percentile multiplied by the coefficient for the respective track gives the point score in one race. The overall result is the sum of points from both races (Jizerská 50 and Běhej lesy Jizerská).

The winner is the participant with the highest achieved point score.

  • First place is announced in both the women's and men's categories.
  • In case of a tie in points, the participant who ran the longer distance wins.
  • If you ran multiple races within one Jizerská 50 event, the race with the better point score is counted.

Example:

John ran the 25 km route in winter and finished 268th among men. A total of 900 men completed this route. John's base percentile is 70.22 (he placed better than 70.22% of participants). The coefficient for the 25 km route is 0.8. Therefore, his point score from winter is 70.22 x 0.8 = 56.18.

In summer, John ran the 12 km route and finished 85th out of 620 men. His percentile is 86.29. The coefficient for the 12 km route is 0.7, and his point score from summer is 86.29 x 0.7 = 60.40.

John obtained a total of 116.58 points in the King of Jizerské competition.
